Kids Sessions
Children have loads of fun at Christ Church with groups for every age. It’s a place to laugh and learn, play and pray, and enjoy being in the presence of our wonderful, loving, God!
Sunday Groups
Children are welcome every Sunday morning. All of the children join in the main service for the welcome and a few songs before going out to their groups. We also meet all together as a church family for ‘All In’ services on the third Sunday of the month at Long Furlong and for Intergenerational Worship during the school holidays at Northcourt Road.
We explore the Bible through playing, singing, story and craft, learning about our loving God. Sparks meet during the 9:30am service in the Hall and Church Lounge.
All the children come together to learn about God and meet with him through worship, drama, Bible stories, prayer, games and quizzes. Splitting into smaller groups, they continue to explore and discover how to apply the Bible in an age-appropriate way, including discussion, activities and craft. Ignite meets during the 9:30am service in the Upper Room and Barn.
Bubbles is for 0-4 year olds. We have a fun time of learning about God through play, stories and songs. Bubbles meets during the 10am service in the school library.
*Bubbles is not currently running but we hope to restart in January 2027*
We discover more about God in fun ways through Bible stories, games, prayer, crafts & other activities. GodzKidz meets during the 10am service in the Community Centre.
Midweek Groups – Under 5s
During term time we run two weekly toddler groups – Link and Singing Circle. Both groups have been running for over 30 years and have grown and developed to suit the needs of our local community. Both groups offer a morning of fun for young children and an opportunity for parents/grandparents/carers to get to know each other.
Link meets at 10-11:30am on Wednesday mornings at our Northcourt Road site. It offers a safe environment for the children and a relaxed and friendly place for parents and carers to chat and enjoy being together. We use both the outside and inside spaces with a range of ride-ons, toys, a Bible story and creative activities. The lounge area provides a space for those with babies & there are also drinks & snacks available with a time of music and singing. There is a small charge of £1 per family. Singing Circle meets on Thursday mornings at 10:30am at Long Furlong Community Centre for half an hour of singing followed by half an hour of refreshments and play. Children are encouraged to sing, dance and play with the instruments. £1 donation per family is welcome but not essential. A welcoming, supportive community of parents who gather together to pray, read the Bible and encourage one another through their parenting journey. Open to all, every Link Wednesday at 11:45am in the Barn.
Schools Work
We love to connect with the children in our local community and one of the ways we do this is through working with our local schools. We currently work with four nearby primary schools, offering assemblies and Prayer Spaces.
Our Schools Team go into the local schools twice a term to deliver fun, interactive assemblies using storytelling, drama, rhymes and puppets to bring the stories of the Bible to life.
Through prayer spaces children have the opportunity to learn more about Christian prayer through an interactive space offering activities that encourage prayer or reflection. Each year our prayer spaces have a specific theme which we draw on to help transform the space into an engaging area for the children and staff to explore.
The spaces are accessible to children of any faith or none, supporting the school’s curriculum as well as creating a place to pause on a busy day.
Events
We run a number of events throughout the year. These are a great opportunity to invite our local community into church and we encourage our Christ Church kids to bring their friends along with them.
A celebration of Jesus, the Light of the World for all ages. Including story, games, singing, crafts, activities and food.
Our annual holiday club runs every August for primary aged children. Over the four mornings we unpack biblical themes through puppets, drama, singing, Bible stories, games, crafts, activities and prayer. We gather for a BBQ celebration one evening, giving a chance for all the families to come together for a time of fun and fellowship. In addition to the children attending, holiday club is a fantastic time for adults & youth to join the team, share their gifts and serve together.
Come and join us for a Christmas Eve family celebration. Services are held at both Northcourt Rd and Long Furlong. A family friendly service including well known carols, interactive story and talk, prayers and a candlelit moment to pause in the midst of the busyness.
