Baptism

For the children of committed Christians, there is a service of baptism. This service involves giving thanks and praying for the child, as well as:

Statement
The parents making a statement of their belief in God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and their acceptance of Jesus Christ as their Saviour and Lord.

Promises
The parents making promises to pray for the child, instruct them in the Christian faith and bring them up within the local church congregation.

Baptism
Baptising the child with water.

Baptism services follow a preparation course of teaching on the Christian faith for the parents. Baptisms take place within a main Sunday morning service. For those interested in a thanksgiving service or a baptism for their child, please contact the Church Office and we will send you our ‘Welcoming Children’ information pack.

Other Life Events

Marriage Preparation

We run the Marriage Preparation Course, a series of five sessions to help engaged couples or those exploring the possibility of marriage, to build strong foundations for their future together.

Weddings

Funerals

At Christ Church, we are here to offer care and support to families at the end of life and in the days that follow. Our clergy can conduct a funeral service either in church or at the crematorium. When a loved one dies, the first step is to contact a funeral director. They will help you explore the available options and will contact Christ Church on your behalf. A member of our clergy will then arrange to visit you and your family, taking time to hear about your loved one, offer support, and discuss the details of the service together.
